Inserting file link to existing media

Foliovision › Forums › Foliopress WYSIWYG › Requests and Feedback › Inserting file link to existing media

Is there a way to insert a link to an existing piece of media using the FolioPress WYSIWYG editor? Using the latest version of FolioPress WYSIWYG on the latest version of WordPress, the Link dialog shows a list of existing pages and posts, and allows the user to upload new media, but does NOT allow the user to pick an existing file from the images directory. The default editor in WordPress allows inserting a file link or a post link to a file in the Media Library. Is this functionality available in FolioPress WYSIWYG?

The SEO Images browser similarly does not provide an easy way to cut-and-paste the URL to a file in the /images/ directory. The base directory name, the file name and the path name are shown in three different fields, so it is quite tedious to get at the complete relative URL. It would be really nice if the pop-up menu could show a “Copy link location” option upon right-clicking a file.

    Hello Bryan,

with Foliopress WYSIWYG, you can use the Link dialog to put in links and link to existing posts or pages. Same as WordPress, you just need to enable it in Settings -> Foliopress WYSIWYG -> Advanced Options -> “Use WordPress Linking Dialog”. However the dialog needs to be cleaned up, the “Upload” function should not be showing up.

Then you can use the “Quick Insert Image” button which launched SEO Images image manager to upload pictures. If you need to get URL of some picture, you can use the “View Image” function which will open the selected image in popup window, which you need to allow. So having a “Copy file location” function would be nice, we can look into it when we do another round of updates.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

Our editor currently has some issues with IE9, we are starting a fund raising drive which would allow us to accelerate development of fix for IE9 and also some other fixes.

    Hi Bryan,

just one more thing – if you want to use normal WordPress Media Library, you can – just turn on Settings -> Foliopress WYSIWYG -> Enable WordPress uploader buttons.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    I can’t find this option!
“Settings -> Foliopress WYSIWYG -> Advanced Options -> “Use WordPress Linking Dialog””

    Hello Jonas,

I’m sorry, but we had to remove that functionality from our plugin, as one of the recent WordPress upgrades changed the code for that part and our integration was broken. They really made it harder to integrate in plugins.

    Thanks,
    Martin
