Foliovision › Forums › FV Player Pay Per View › Requests and Feedback › I use PPPV + PRO, can I provide a link that would allow a limited free viewing?
-
I have a need to allow a producer or other VIP access to my PPPV video so they can watch for the 72 hour limit. I would prefer to email them a link I could setup that works where they don’t have to login themselves (I could create an account for them if need be) and they don’t have to pay with a credit card to watch the film (like a free coupon idea). Any suggestions?

Hello Ron,
sorry for the late reply.
Yes, that is one method. But you can also manually create an order which will act as already paid, by going to WooCommerce -> Orders and clicking Add order.
Once there, fill out the customer’s information and assign the correct product.
Then make sure that the Status is set to Completed. This lets you evade the need for anyone to pay, as the payment is already regarded as completed.
Other then that, the order will act as any other order and the customers will get the video link with the pre-defined rental period.
Let us know, if you have more questions about this process.
Making the web work for you,
MariaHello Ron,
I think you can include the order ID and WooCommerce payment key in the URL and have that act as the coupon code.
Something like this:
https://your-website.com/your-video-page?order=1234&payment_key=fdf8df989
But since the payment key cannot be seen in WooCommerce interface, the approach of copying it from the email might be easier.
Thanks,
MartinI did as Maria instructed and I noticed no payment_key info on the email sent to VIP and on the order is no FV Player Pay Per View Access panel that shows the IP addresses. I tested the email link and it showed I had 72 hours of access but will the VIP’s IP be allowed now that I tested that completed order?
Since the Maria’s method creates an order which does not contain the FV Player Pay Per View Access panel which would shows up to 3 IPs can view, is this order limited by 3 IPs? (I hope so). I hope you can fix it to allow the Access panel to be created on the order even by Maria’s method.
I notice the time limit is working so that is good. This ability will also giving me a chance of giving a limited number of free views for promotional considerations too.Hello Ron,
the no payment_key issue and the no “View Access” panel issue has been fixed.
Please get a new plugin ZIP file at https://foliovision.com/my-licenses and reinstall from that.
Once you create a new order, these issues will no longer occur.
Thanks,
MartinHello Ron,
if the payment_key= is empty, then the link in email won’t work.
Please try reinstalling again and create a new order. Is the wp-admin page where you are creating the order with URL like this? https://your-site.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=shop_order
If that won’t work we really need a better way of detecting the manually created WooCommerce orders, or perhaps add our own payment key.
Thanks,
MartinDear Martin,
I deactivated and deleted PPV. Then installed PPV. I created the new order using a url just like you indicated. I get the access panel, but the email payment key is still just = and nothing else and yet it works as I have tried it on several browsers with no one logged in. Apparently as long as the order is in the completed status, it counts down the time to watch the film and it works. For example I create the order using firefox but I use opera or microsoft edge to test with.I also tested with the same order number with a bogus payment key for the url and that does not work. but remove the bogus payment key by leaving the payment key= nothing does work when an order is created that way. I created an order by using the url you indicated by selecting new order from the admin page as admin, I set the customer, the product, and status as completed and I select the drop down of order actions as email invoice/order details to customer and then I hit the create button.
Hello Ron,
I see that it might just work without any payment_key provided. But what that means is that somebody could potentially try to guess the order ID number and get access to a video that way.
So we will work on improving this – the payment_key should always be present.
Please let us know if you are having any issues, it appears that it works for you before we get to improve it.
Thanks,
MartinHello Ron,
we improved our handling of the WooCommerce order keys. Please get a new plugin ZIP file at https://foliovision.com/my-licenses when you get a chance and reinstall from that.
Then you manually created orders will have the proper order key in the email video viewing links.
Thanks,
Martin
