Windows 7 Internet Explorer domain v subdomain operation strangeness

[Solved]

  • William 7 years, 6 months ago

I have a main site and a subdomain from this domain. Both contain individual operational sites. A page on the domain will not start FolioPlayer when the full site URL is added to the address bar and press go. There is a link on the main site that sometimes works/doesn’t work, no rhyme or reason. However the sub domain with exactly the same page setup works fine. I must add that this problem only seems to occur on Windows 7 Internet Explorer. There was no problem with previous versions of FolioPlayer. Can you give me any pointers as to why this might be? WordPress / Avada child theme. I do not want to publish the site URL publicly. Happy to give you access privately.

    Bill

    Hello William,

You can post the URLs here in the forum and I will moderate the comment or not make it public.

    Thanks,

    Hi William,

I tested both of the links you sent in IE 11 in Windows 7 several times, but I encountered no issues with the video. I also tried all the buttons, pausing the video manually, etc. Were you using some other version of Internet Explorer?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Windows 7 32 bit 3.50GB i5-4670 3.39 GHz Service Pack 1
    Internet explorer 11 11.0.9600.18816
    Update version: 11.0.47
Ran all updates. This has happened on three computers so far. :)

    Hi William,

I was finally able to replicate the issue – the video in https://www.nowbaby.co.uk/nowbabytv did not start on autoplay and there was no way to start it manually. We’ll look into this and let you know what could be done.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello William,

I had a look and you are using custom buttons to control FV Player. However you are calling play() on flowplayer(), which doesn’t work – as just calling flowplayer() doesn’t give you a reference to any player. Change it to flowplayer(0) and call load() rather than play() and it will work.

If the button is also supposed to resume playback after pausing you need to check if flowplayer(0).ready is true, and if it is use resume() on it.

    Thanks,
    Martin
