Video quality switching – not playing in HD some vimeo videos

Hi

I am using FV Player without problem on most videos here: sculptingmasterclass.com – but on some lessons, the videos will only play properly at 360 or 540… on 720 and 1080 it goes to a black screen.

Tried all logical problem solving – but, as this is only on 1 or 2 videos, I can’t work out what to do! I have a paid customer experiencing the same issue.

Can provide temporary free access to the lessons if you need to see the issue.

Hi Benjamin,

It seems like you are using Vimeo for hosting your videos. Could you please provide the temporary frontend access (you can use this service for sharing sensitive information – https://revealit.me/) and also a link to a video in FV Player where these issues can be seen?

Hello Benjamin,

Thanks for the access. I tested the videos and was able to see the black screen issue. It seems that the problem is in the videos loaded from Vimeo’s servers. When I opened the 720p and 1080p qualities outside FV Player, I got the same results – black screen and audio only.

You could try to re-upload your videos to Vimeo, maybe the issue was only in the encoding. If that doesn’t help, you could also turn on the Enable MPEG-DASH (Beta) function in Settings > FV Player Pro > Hosting tab > Vimeo (Pro). MPEG-Dash is streamed through a different CDN, which is in our experience more reliable.

Great. Thank you Eduard. Re-uploading the videos seems to have worked.
