test subdomain

[Solved]

  • Edward 5 years, 1 month ago

    Hello,

I’ve cloned my site from gnm-practice.ru to test.gnm-practice.ru subdomain to test upgrade to the latest version of fv player.

My HLS S3 encrypted videos stop working on test subdomain.
So my question: is there any licence restriction to test videos on subdomain?

The video checker shows: “Admin: video issues”. When I try to start video I get error: “hlsjs-lite: Network error”

Both gnm-practice.ru and test.gnm-practice.ru are located on the same host and have identical settings.
What should I check first to troubleshoot the issue? Could encrypted hls videos work on subdomain?

    Thanks

    Hello Edward,

If you’re using AWS fro encryption the reason probably is that your videos are encrypted for the gnm-practice.ru domain not for the new one.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, you enter exact URL to your MediaConvert settings. That’s reason why your videos won’t play on your new test subdomain. If you want them to work, you need to re-encode them.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hello Juraj,

thank you. Is there a way to encoder videos that will work on both domain and subdomain?

    Smth like https://*.domain.com/?fv_player_hls_key=path ?

    Hello Edward,

Currently there’s no way to encrypt a video via AWS to work with several domain names. You need to make encryption job for each domain.

We imagine a way to automatically change these .m3u8 streams depending on your website but it would need significant amount of custom programming.

    Thanks,
    Juraj
