Several Playback Issues

[Solved]

Hello, I am having several difficulties with this plugin.

I have updated to 0.6.6. WordPress is fully up to date.

    Here are my issues:

    1. I am using Cloudfront RTMP, however when I provide an MP4 link from my server, it never plays off of Cloudfront. The only way to force it to play from Cloudfront is to only provide an RTMP path. How can I provide the best possible experience if I can’t optimize usage of Cloudfront?

    2. Videos refuse to play on Android(Chrome browser). I remember when I first tested these, it was working, now nothing.

    3. When I load the page on my PC, and I click the video to play, nothing happens. After reloading the page I try again and it works.

    4. The playback of of Cloudfront is choppy, the playback off of S3 is choppier, and the playback off of my server is horrible. I used mp4 Fast Start to move the meta data to the front of the file but I am getting really bad playback results all around.

    Hello Birsen,

    1) The thing is if the browser finds an mp4 video and it supports its playback in HTML5 it won’t try the Flash video. You can set the player to prefer Flash engine in Settings -> FV WordPress Flowplayer -> Sitewide Flowplayer Defaults -> Prefer Flash by Default.

    2) Please submit your video using video checker, here’s how: https://foliovision.com/player/faq#properties-built-checker-report-playing

    3) This might be a JavaScript issue – could you please post a URL where we can see this?

    4) Same as 2), please submit your videos.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

I have resolved #1 and #4. #1 was with your suggestion. #4 was with compression and moov.

#2 and #3 are still happening.

    The vid is at bpsuniversity.com/2015/12/03/latest-vid-test/

I am having to refresh multiple times now to get the video to play.

Sorry, my co-worker deleted that post.

Both iPhone and Android devices cannot play these vids.

    Hello Birsen,

    2) Video not playing on mobile – I’m noticing it’s a full HD video – that won’t play on older iPhones. You can use our mobile video feature for these devices: https://foliovision.com/player/encoding#mobile-video Or you can use quality switching: https://foliovision.com/player/switch-video-quality

However I’m noticing that the video fails on the Ajax load of the RTMP URL signature – I’ll have to debug it in depth, I can do so tomorrow.

    3) Video sometimes only playing after a page reload – I was not able to reproduce this issue. On the other hand the page reloading often took a while – if you are on a shared server it might be overloaded and since the video is using WP Ajax to get the URL signature for RTMP, it might be slowed down because of that.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Thanks Martin, looking forward to your assistance. We just saw this error today that comes and goes:

    Uncaught TypeError: r.flowplayer is not a function(anonymous function) @ fv_player_pro.min.js?ver=d4fbffa756f1fdfa86e639b74fccf49f:9p.event.dispatch @ jquery.min.js:2g.handle.h @ jquery.min.js:2p.event.trigger @ jquery.min.js:2b.trigger @ moonrayform.paymentplandisplay.js:193b.trigger @ moonrayform.paymentplandisplay.js:193(anonymous function) @ jquery.min.js:2p.extend.each @ jquery.min.js:2p.fn.p.each @ jquery.min.js:2p.fn.extend.trigger @ jquery.min.js:2FV_Flowplayer_Pro.load @ fv_player_pro.min.js?ver=d4fbffa756f1fdfa86e639b74fccf49f:9(anonymous function) @ fv_player_pro.min.js?ver=d4fbffa756f1fdfa86e639b74fccf49f:9p.event.dispatch @ jquery.min.js:2g.handle.h @ jquery.min.js:2

Oh and to answer your second question, we are on our own instance on Amazon EC2. We are using a medium sized instance with a General purpose SSD EBS. The instance is quite capable, its extremely fast with everything we do.

    Ok Martin,

I have narrowed down the problem. When I remove the RTMP settings from the shortcode, the video plays fine on mobile. However when I put that part back in on the shortcode, it does not work anymore.

    Hello Birsen,

thank you for your note about the RTMP, that should not be happening. I’ll debug it tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Birsen,

I had a look and the first issue is that the MP4 video http://bpsuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/ob_mp4_cc_5661a5e97cfb8.mp4 is not present, it gives error “404 Not Found”.

Next issue is that your theme hides the Flowplayer error message and the loading indicator, although it’s not intentional. That makes the user experience much worse, as it’s not clear what the error is and if it’s still loading. We are checking how to make our player styling more resilient to that.

Regarding the mobile playback broken because of the RTMP stream – I’m not having this issue when playing https://foliovision.com/player/demos/cloudfront-download-protection -> Player with MP4, WebM and RTMP stream

Regarding the RTMP stream, I don’t think it works at all, does it ever play for you? Are you sure you have the CloudFront RTMP distribution with singed URLs setup properly? https://foliovision.com/player/serving-private-cloudfront#rtmp

You can also order our services to setup CloudFront for you: https://foliovision.com/player/pro-setup -> Setting up Cloudfront Distribution

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hey Martin,

We resolved the issue and found that certain parts of the theme were not letting your player write the necessary code. Also, we found conflicts with an Ontraport smart form on the page. In the end, we have it working now! Thank you for checking in and giving us direction.

    Hello Birsen,

could you please let us know which parts of code were affected and what you had to fix? Perhaps we can make our code more resilient.

    Thanks,
    Martin
