Position Saving Is not Working on my website

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Position Saving Is not Working on my website

  • Rene Villanueva 3 years, 12 months ago

I have enabled the feature for the player:

    Remember video position:
Stores the last video play position for users, so they can continue watching from where they left. It stored in usermeta for logged in users and in a localStorage or cookie for guest users.

from the settings area but this does not seem to work on my video.

I have it the flayer setup at https://belizetravelchannel.bz/ and would like my visitors to continue watching from where they left or closed the page but does not work on my website.

    Can you assist with this?

    Hello Rene,

    thank you for your question!

the feature itself does work on your website as intended. The feature is built to remember the position in individual videos. However, you have an auto-advance playlist in place.

This means that if the site gets refreshed during the very first video the position in that video is remembered. However, when refreshed while playing the next video, it starts to play from the very first video in the playlist again.

I will forward your request to our development team to see, if we can create a solution for you that would work throughout the whole playlist.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hello Rene,

I see how our position remembering doesn’t work with your use case. In fact it’s not working in playlist if the playing item thumbnails are not visible.

It seems to me we can improve the general behavior of the position remembering if we also store the last item playing in each playlist. That will fix it for your website and it won’t disrupt the other users.

I will let you know when we have a new version of FV Player ready for your test.

    Thanks,
    Martin
