Issues with compatibility / RMTP Server

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Issues with compatibility / RMTP Server

  • Brendan C. 10 years, 1 month ago

Hi, I’m trying to set up a livestream and I seem to be having issues. I have two links, an RMTP server link (beginning in rmtp:// and a link to a m3u8.

Currently, only apple devices (iphone, ipad, computers using safari) are working- which point to a problem with the rmtp link. I entered the rmtp link in the fields, but it doesn’t seem to be loading in other browsers like chrome, firefox, or internet explorer.

Any chance anyone knows what I’m doing wrong and how to get the stream working for non-apple devices?

    Thanks!

    Hello Brendan,

could you please paste your HLS and RTMP links? I’m keeping the thread private for now, so you don’t have to worry about revealing the links to public.

Also, what does our video checker say about the video? https://foliovision.com/player/faq#properties-built-checker-report-playing

    Thanks,
    Martin

Thanks so much for the reply. Here are the links our streaming service gave us:

    rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive/example
    http://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive/example/playlist.m3u8

Here are the video warnings the Admin panel gave:

We recommend that you also provide your RTMP video in MP4 format. RTMP is not compatible with HTML5 and won’t play on devices without Flash (iPhone, iPad…). Read our article about video encoding. You provided a HLS stream though, so the video will play on iPhone and iPad, but not on PC computers without Flash.

    Analysis of http://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive/example/playlist.m3u8

This looks like a valid HLS stream.
    Video:

    Analysis of rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive/example/icilive/example

RTMP: example.cdn.clearcable.net with icilive appears to be ok.

    Hello Brendan,

it works for me like this:

    [fvplayer rtmp="rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive" rtmp_path="example" live="true"]

It was no clear with part is the connection URL and which is the file. So I checked both of these for server:

    rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935
    rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive

And both of these for file:

    icilive/example
    icitv

Normally if the stream has an extension it can be written in this form:

    rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive/mp4:example

And then the “mp4:” breaks it into connection URL and stream name.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hey Martin, I tried copy pasting that onto my side and it doesn’t seem to work. I get this is the video warning:

    Analysis of rtmp://example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive/icitv/example

RTMP Error: Could not connect to example.cdn.clearcable.net:1935

    Hello Brendan,

    it should be like this:

    [fvplayer rtmp="rtmp://flowcaster1.cdn.clearcable.net:1935/icilive" rtmp_path="icitv" live="true"]

    Thanks,
    Martin

Perfect, Thanks so much for your support Martin- works like a charm now!

    Hi Martin,
my live streaming provider gave me the following links:

    rtmp://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live//stream00.sdp
    http://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live/flv:stream00.sdp/playlist.m3u8
I’ve already set up these two links in the FV player but it only works on iOS and it doesn’t work on flash enable devices.
If I set only the RTMP link in the FV player it works correctly on flash based devices but, of course, it doesn’t works on iOS devices: so that how can I get the two links working together at the same time on the same player as specified in the user guide?

I’m using WordPress ver 4.4.2 and FV Player WP Plugin ver 6.0.4.17 free version for now.
Thanks in advance for any appreciated help.

Errata corrige: my correct links are

    rtmp://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live/stream00.sdp
    http://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live/flv:stream00.sdp/playlist.m3u8

The problem is the same specified in my previous post.
    Thanks for any appreciated help

    Additional informations:
I’ve put the following shortcodes in a test page:

    [fvplayer rtmp="rtmp://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live/" rtmp_path="stream00.sdp" autoplay="true" live="true"]

    [fvplayer src="http://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live/flv:stream00.sdp/playlist.m3u8" rtmp="rtmp://msh0161.stream.seeweb.it/live/" rtmp_path="stream00.sdp" autoplay="true" live="true"]

As I said in my previous posts, the first one works only on flash devices and not on iOS (as well known) and the second one works on iOS but not on flash devices.
How can I get the player working on both platforms iOS and flash devices?
    Thanks
    Giuseppe M.
