• laurent 7 years, 10 months ago

Hello,
I use FV player in wordpress to read m3u8 files.
Unfortunately when I read, I receive an error message “flash player: video file not found” on firefox or chrome.
Nevertheless it works very well under ipad and smartphone via chrome.
I have to check that flash works under windows and that it is active in the navigator and it is ok so why does not it works on windows but on ipad and smartphone samsung (chrome)
Thank you for helping me because I have been searching for and I’m starting to feel depressed
Thank you

Hello laurent,

The problem is that m3u8 files (or HLS) are made primarily for Apple devices. To make it work on desktop, you will need to have a cross-domain policy on your server (to play it with Flash) and allow CORS requests from your server for HTML5 video support via HLS.js.

It’s all explained in this guide along with how to set everything up – Using HLS With FV Player.

Thanks,
Eduard

I created the file crossdomain.xml and I slipped it to the root of my wordpress site or is placed the file htaccess
<! – Xml version = “1.0”? ->
<Cross-domain-policy>
<Allow-access-from domain = “http://xxx.dyndns.tv” secure = “false”>
</ Allow-access-from>
</ Cross-domain-policy>

But it does not change anything …..

Hello laurent,

You need to paste the crossdomain.xml on the server where you have the HLS stream, not into your WP installation folder.

As for the code, specifying your domain will work but will prevent other websites from playing the video through Flash, since the access is limited to your domain only. That might interfere with embedding but still won’t prevent others to play the video on Apple devices.

Thanks,
Eduard

Hello laurent,

Sorry, it will not interfere with embedding, but will prevent hotlinking (to the extent described),

Thanks,
Eduard

Hello,
I do not understand or need to paste the crossdomain file.
I have to add it in php files of fv player or is it to the company that sells me m3u8 files to paste it on the server ??
Thank you

Hello laurent,

As I said, the crossdomain.xml should be placed on the same server as the stream. Are you using an m3u8 file from some external source? If you, could you send the link so I can check it?

Thanks,
Eduard

Hi laurent,

I noticed that the stream plays but it’s served via HTTP. If you have a HTTPS website, the stream won’t work as it’s evaluated as insecure.

Thanks,
Eduard

Ok thanks for your answer, so in summary it works on ipad and chrome on smartphone but for a safety story it does not work on chrome pc ..
So I give thanks for everything
