Exit Button Not Working

[Solved]

After the video comes up in a lightbox, the “exit X” button at the bottom right doesn’t do anything. Have to click outside the video to make it stop playing. I have FV Player Pro on 5 sites, all settings the same. All using Genesis, etc. This is the only error on any of the sites. Same thing happens in Chrome, Edge, and FireFox, so it’s something to do with a conflict on my site. I host with WP Engine. I copied my site over to staging and switched to the Twenty Seventeen theme and the “exit X” button works. So…any ideas on how to tweak this particular install of Genesis to make that button work? I can’t change themes…far too much customization.

    Hello Scott,

we use Genesis as well. Are you saying that we just need to install Genesis on a clean WordPress site and we will see the issue?

Could you please check for any errors on your JavaScript console? Simply open the console, load the page, open the image in lightbox and try to close it – will you get any error on console? Here’s how to get that JavaScript console: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors#Step_3:_Diagnosis

We are also happy to solve the issue right on your website (the fix will work for all websites unless there is something really special in your code) with priority if you purchase our Pro support: http://foliovision.com/pro-support

    Thanks,
    Martin

No, I’m not saying that Genesis is necessarily causing the error. There is no close button error on my other sites running Genesis. But when I switched this site to a basic theme, the error disappeared. So…maybe something with Genesis on this site?

I checked the JS console and no errors show up. See screen capture video at this link: https://www.screencast.com/t/rJflGEJbm

    Page I tested: https://classroomcaboodle.com/teacher-resource/teaching-interview-lesson/

If necessary, I will buy the Pro support.

    Hello Scott,

I checked and I see no JavaScript files being loaded from your theme. So it seems to me that some JavaScript from one of your plugins must be interfering with our lightbox close button.

It might have something to do with mouse events too. When I call jQuery('#fv_player_pro_boxClose').click() on JavaScript console, the lightbox closes properly.

    Thanks,
    Martin

This is not something I’ll be able to chase down on my own. I’m getting Pro Support from Eduard on another site’s issues right now. After he’s done with that, I’ll likely buy another Pro Support package to address this.

    Hello Scott,

thank you for ordering the Pro support!

It turns out it’s actually a CSS issue. Something in your theme was positioning the lightbox close button to the top of the screen when clicking, so then it couldn’t be really clicked.

FV Player 6.3.8 fixes this issue, so please upgrade to it and the issue will be fixed.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Scott,

it’s actually not that simple. We actually had to dig deep into your site and check each JS and CSS file to find where the plugin conflict has originated.

Once we located it, we were able to put a fix for your issue right into the core code of FV Player.

It’s not something that got fixed just by updating the plugin, the plugin had to be adjusted to work better for your site which uses some rather special styling for buttons.

Please let us know if you still have some concerns.

    Thanks,
    Martin
