Cannot get non-Flash video to work

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Cannot get non-Flash video to work

  • Lucia 10 years, 1 month ago

    Hi again
I’m trying to get my site set up to play both rtmp videos and non-flash version for mobile devices.
My rtmp videos are working just fine, but I am having problems to get the non-flash version to work.
In the ‘Add FV WP Flowplayer’ window, I am entering the video url in the following format:
http://dxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/bucket-name/video.mp4 (where dxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net is the domain name of my Web distribution in Amazon Cloudfront.)
When I open the page and look at the ‘Video Issues’, the analysis of the url above shows the following:

    Mime Type: text/xml
    Video:

Access to video forbidden (HTTP 403)!
    unable to determine file format

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks very much.

    Phil

    Hi Philip!

Your problem most probably lies in video encoding. “Mime type text/xml” is not a video format. Please have a look at our guide “How to set up correct mime-type on videos in Amazon S3.” It will show you where to check the problem and how to fix it.

Let us know if you experience any more issues.

    Kind regards,
    Lucia

    Hi Lucia

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, all the files are set to:
    Content-type = video/mp4, so I don’t think that is the problem.

    Regards

    Hello Philip,

the bad mime type only occurs as the HTTP code of the video request is 403 as the URL signature is not matching.

Are you sure both your CloudFront streaming distribution (RTMP) and CloudFront Web distribution use the same bucket? You are not mentioning is you use the signed URLs or not.

Also, there should be no bucket name in the CloudFront file URL. For example our public CloudFront Web distribution uses URLs like: http://video-cdn-public.foliovision.com/Swan+Lake+Reloaded-sd.mp4 While the file in the Amazon S3 bucket has path: https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/fv-flowplayer-bucket/Swan+Lake+Reloaded-sd.mp4

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello again

Yes, definitely using the same bucket in both the RTMP and Web distributions, although not completely sure where I get the Web distribution URL from. I thought I’d followed your guide ‘Serving Private Videos via Cloudfront’ (Incidentally, I assume it’s a numbering error in the Web distribution section when it goes fro 8. to 14.?)

    Kind regards

    Phil

    Hello Philip,

you file name should be http://dxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/video.mp4 and not http://dxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/bucket-name/video.mp4 as the CloudFront distribution is already bound to a Amazon S3 bucket, so there is no place for it in the CloudFront URL. Please let us know if that helps or now.

Thank you for letting us know about the mistake in the documentation!

    Thanks,
    Martin
