Any way to improve choppy video performance?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Any way to improve choppy video performance?

I am hosting my protected videos through Amazon S3. Some of my users have reported choppy video performance when trying to play back videos through FV Flowplayer, and have said they’ve never had issues streaming videos from other sites before. I’ve used MP4 fast start and the built in video checker says everything is OK. Is there any way to improve the streaming performance? sWould Cloudfront improve things at all?

    Hi Yngvai,

Yes, in general, the CloudFront will help to speed up the loading for users located geographically far from your server. If you say that some users report slower performance and others don’t, than this might be the right solution.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

Well I tried Cloudfront but performance is pretty much the same…in fact it’s really no different from S3. I’ve tried other options like getting it to automatically buffer once you load the page but those haven’t helped either.

I’ll also add that I tried to get the RTMP to work and was getting a “File not found” message, even though the HTTPS was working fine, and the video player was telling me that my RTMP link was fine as well. I’m trying to play protected content from my S3 bucket.
