Amazon S3: Request is not yet valid

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Amazon S3: Request is not yet valid

  • Steve D. 9 years, 8 months ago

    Hello,
Not sure with which update this started, but all my sites with the FV Flowplayer now have this same problem:
    Mime Type: application/xml
    Video:

Amazon S3: Request is not yet valid
    unable to determine file format

They all worked perfectly and zero changes to the video files on S3.
The Mime Type is proper for both the mp4 and webm
Is there anything else you need to help me?

Here is a URL to one of the sites:
    https://plrvideodirect.com/how-to-move-your-wordpress-site-to-a-new-domain/

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello Steve,

could you please check if there were any changes?

The error message “Request is not yet valid” seems strange, have you changed any of the time/date settings? Does the clock on your server work properly (does it show correct time including minute and seconds in Settings -> General -> Timezone)?

The link to your plrvideodirect.com site currently won’t load, it gives “Error 522”.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Steve,

the site loads now. The “Error 522” was by CloudFlare. If you use that, then it probably caches your HTML. Make sure you follow the advice on caching here: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/secure-amazon-s3-guide -> Step 18.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
I thought of the caching being an issue as well but I have another site that is not on Cloudflare AND has not caching plugin but throws up the same error.

    http://s3simplified.com/
So far the common denominator that I can see is the FV Flowplayer plugin is on all these sites AND they are all on the same server.

I think it is something to do with the time on the server being off but when I contacted them yesterday, they said there were no errors showing in their logs and to contact you.

I’m not that knowledgeable in the techie side of these things so if you could give me something to take back to the server people to help them solve the problem, that would be awesome.

I think it is the server time because on the General Settings page of my WP sites the ‘local’ time is 4 hours ahead of what it should be. It is set for Chicago (Central) time and that is my time zone. It is showing 4 hours ahead of what the clock on my wall is showing.

So anything you can tell me to take to the server people will help.

    Thank you again Martin.

    Hi Martin,
I re-contacted the server people and luckily got someone that knew more than the last person I spoke with and he confirmed it was a server issue and he did some configuring – told me what he was doing but all I heard was a foreign language.. svg or scgi or something like that was not properly setup when I upgraded my server package.

So he did his thing and all the sites are working perfectly now.

So again, thank you and have an awesome weekend.

    Hello Steve,

thank you for the follow up. Was is the time setting issue? Do you see correct time now?

    Thanks,
    Martin

Yes I’m seeing the correct time on all my sites so it had to be a time thing or whatever it was it affected the time.
So with whatever they ‘fixed’ it corrected the time and everything is synced up properly now.
    Thank you.
