    Hi Support,

I am trying to enter a text to the video end popup field, but if I do so, it destroys my video player and nothing displays on site while browsing it but an error message:
Warning: Division by zero in /home/example/test.example.com/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/models/flowplayer-frontend.php on line 352

    Can you please advice?
here is an example of popup filled with text
    http://example.com/example-videos/t342/

and an example of working one with no text in popup field:
    http://example.com/example/

    Thank You for your help,
    Gregory

    Hello Gregory,

could you please paste the exact shortcode which you are using? The content of the popup might matter here.

I tested some simple popup content and it works.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Strangely, even if I place a couple of letters in it, it still gives the error. originally I would like to place a link to the paypage, with a text “click here to sign up”

but for test I have this on this page: http://example.com/example-videos/t342/

    [fvplayer src="http://example.com/open/example-gets-smp_1.mp4" width="714" height="402" splash="http://example.com/open/example-gets.jpg" popup="ccc" qsel="true"]

    Thank You!

    Hello Gergely,

I had a look and it’s because you are not using the ” quotes in the shortcode, but fancy quotes. These get encoded as &#8221 and &#8243 and WordPress doesn’t recognize that.

Please replace any quote symbol with them most basic ” and it will work again.

That said, I think this is just a coincidence, popup should have nothing to do with it. We can add some additional check into our plugin to now show the warning though.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Thank you for looking into it! To replace the sign ” to ‘ solves the issue and all displays well. This way I can fix this, which is fantastic.

But I am not using any special character, actually flowplayer adds it’s own. I use the “Add FV WP flowplayer” icon and in the flowplayer popop admin I fill the data and flowplayer inserts the code to the post, then it doesn’t work.

The problem only surfaced now, when I bought the flowplayer pro, and upgraded it. All old posts worked for 2 years and still works, but if I edit and save anything in the old posts which is not even related to the flowplayer, the player disappears and error comes.

Anyway the work around works fine, so not a biggie, i am happy with the player.

    Thanks,
    Gregory

    Hello Gergely,

I’m not sure what could be causing the fancy quotes (the special versions of ” symbol) to come out of our “Add FV WP Flowplayer” function. Something like this might happen if you copy-paste the shortcode from some manual though.

It must be some plugin or a theme conflict. If you could try to replicate the behavior on a fresh new site with just your theme on it, that would be very helpful.

New version of FV Flowplayer will feature a code to strip these fancy quotes from shortcode attributes as a safeguard. Too bad WordPress Shortcode API doesn’t handle this.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

You are right I was copy/paste the code frequently so that must be it!

If I use this sign: ‘ then copy paste not an issue anymore either, so it works.

Thank you very much for all the help,
    Kind Regards,
    Gregory
