Fixing Broken JavaScript

With some customers the player will not load and some are having problems with filling in forms.

If I do the template check the folowing message is showing:

It appears there are multiple jQuery libraries on your site, your videos might not be playing or may play with defects, please check.

We also recommend you to open any of your videos on your site and see if you get a red warning message about JavaScript not working.

    FV Flowplayer script found: https://a-beautiful-balance.nl/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/modules/flowplayer.min.js?ver=7.2.12.3!

    jQuery library found: https://a-beautiful-balance.nl/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.min.js?ver=3.7.1!

    jQuery library found: https://a-beautiful-balance.nl/wp-content/plugins/gravityforms/js/jquery.json.min.js?ver=2.8.9!

I contacted the builder and they answered taht it is not abnormal to have multiple jQuery libraries, because some plugins use their own library?

They also asked ‘gravity forms’ and got the folowing answer:

‘The jquery.json.min.js file is not the same than the jquery.min.js file, so the error message in the screenshot is just incorrect. You will want to contact the author of the FV Player plugin about it.’

So can you please help me?

    PS
To help my costumers out I tried to put the Vimeo videos directly on the sit e, but the Fv player keeps apearing, instead of the Vimeo player

    Hello Frank,

I see that jquery.min.js is not the same as jquery.json.min.js, so we will improve our test routine.

Please provide a test page for a video that won’t load for some of your users.

You also mentioned a problem with some forms – please let us know how are these forms related to FV Player.

The Vimeo iframe embed code could be changed to FV Player if one of these settings is enabled in wp-admin -> FV Player -> Settings Integrations/Compatibility:

    • Handle WordPress audio/video
    • Parse Vimeo and YouTube links

    Thanks,
    Martin

    testpage:

There is not a direct relation between ‘Gravity Forms’ and ‘FV player’ on a same page. But the same problems occurred simultaneously over the last 4 years more than once. It always happened after updating the website and after several weeks it disapeared.

Jacqueline had the same problem on her computer but I just tested it on hers and its working fine now.

But because the problem is recurring, I would be glad if you can test and find the solution.

    Thanks
    Frank

    Hello Frank,

What the exact issue I should be running into on that page? I did not notice anything unusual. I was not able to find any form.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Sometimes for several days and only for a few clients the FV player will not load the videos and keep showing the loading GIF.
The issue occurs after updating the website.

At this moment there ar no problems anymore. Not on my computer or the computer of my wife and not on some client’s computer

    Hello Frank,

Are these clients all using the same browser or operating system? The issue might only affecting iPhone users for example, or it can be a general issue that affects all browser and operating system combinations.

Are you noticing any PHP errors when the issue occurs? You would have to check the days when you got reports of these playback issues and see if PHP log shows any errors which normally do not appear. But that’s not so easy to check.

I also wonder if using Turbocharge Ajax Loading would avoid the issue: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/how-to-use-vimeo#turbocharge-ajax-loading

    Thanks,
    Martin

One more thing – when you say that FV Player keep showing the loading animation do you mean that the users cannot even click on the play button? Or does it only get stuck once they click to play?

    Thanks,
    Martin
