Could you please enable FV Player to work in COMMENTS within a post?
Your FV Player works great in posts, but I was wondering if you could make it work in comments too?
I can’t find any WordPress plugins that do this.
I like your plugin the best, and I figured I would make the request.
I’m tired of looking for a plugin to do this.

I’m asking this because I set up my Blog so that people can leave posts, or they can just leave comments to my 40 created posts.
My 40 created posts are set up like categories, and in fact, the category names and tag names are the same names as the 40 posts.
I found a plugin that let’s users leave videos in comments, but only after creating the comment, and then editing a comment can people leave videos in comments within posts.
Of course, editing a comment strips all html, except for <b> & <i>.
So, I was wondering if there is a way there can be WYSIWYG with the option to add video or images in comments that are within posts, BEFORE ANY EDITING?
As far as I know, and I have tried many many plugins, and I have visited other sites like Facebook, NO ONE OFFERS THESE OPTIONS I’m requesting.
    Can it be done?

    Oh yes!
    I almost forgot.
Your plugin looks a lot better than the other plugin I mentioned.
Even though it allows the option to insert video upon editing a comment it doesn’t look as good as yours, and it doesn’t look like yours.
I’m trying to get the same look and feel of your video plugin across my entire site, and that includes comments within posts..

    Hello SaintlyMic,

here is a plugin which lets you enable shortcodes in comments: https://wordpress.org/plugins/shortcode-in-comment/screenshots/

If you are only interested in allowing people to post videos from YouTube or Vimeo, it would work, although they would have to type in [fvplayer src="{the Vimeo/YouTube Path here}"] to make it show up.

Enabling the user front-end video submission is another issue. We tested this with https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-file-upload/ plugin and it works, but we don’t have a documentation for it ready yet. So you could check that plugin and see if you like how it allows you to upload the MP4 videos.

The problem with user uploads is that their videos might not be properly encoded for web: https://foliovision.com/player/encoding

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi SaintlyMic,

I’m very interested in your feature request. To be honest, just uploading videos to your http webhost is probably not a good idea (leaving aside potential content issues). Video streaming requires a different server setup than good http streaming. Video requires a few very powerful streams with some tolerance for latency (probably hard drives) while HTML/CSS/JS require a lot of IO cycles without necessarily much bandwidth per connection (much better suited to SSD).

What you probably want to do is set up some custom programming to dump the uploaded videos into Amazon or Vimeo (via API) or a similar service. As each client will want to use different hosting, we can’t build this as one site fits all (although we might build Vimeo out for fun). Feel free to engage us to make this work for you and your site and with your hosting provider though.

I’m keen to hear your thoughts on the above.

Making the web work for you, Alec
