Auto play support for next tab

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Requests and Feedback › Auto play support for next tab

    Hello Support,

Is there a way to have establish auto play of the videos via your player when the page is visited via a new tab?

For example, I’m on Tab A and I wanted to open video1 on a separate tab so I right click it and open on a new tab.

Currently it works if you switch to the new tab instantly but how about if I wait around 20 seconds before switching?

    Thanks!

    Hi Rosy,

Currently, the player will hold the autoplay until you switch to the new tab with a video (that has the autoplay option active). That also applies to the videos with Scroll Autoplay. Were you looking for a way to change this?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello Eduard,

I tested this and it seems the auto play function only fires up if the user made the switch after around 1~10 seconds.

But if it’s more than that, it needs to be manually pressed.

Is there a setting we need to adjust in order to lengthen this?

    Hello Rosy,

I did some testing with our own Playlist Autoplay demo and your test site. I opened them as new tabs on the background and had them open for over 3 minutes and both started to play immediately after switching to them.

What process did you use for testing? Also, what browser?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello Eduard,

Thank you for looking into this.

I recorded my screen so we’d be on the same page. We’re using google chrome for windows and mac as well.

Please see the videos here: https://we.tl/hHLWAJsz2U

There are two videos attached. First is the one named as “Dec 17 2017_12_19 PM” and it shows the auto play not working if you switch to a new tab after more than 10 seconds. On the video you’ll see I made the switch at 0:30.

The second video is named as “Dec 17 2017 12_22 PM” and it shows that if you switch the video 1~20 seconds the autoplay is fine.

Let me know if you were able to replicate this on your end! Our site is: tassali.tv :)

    Hello Rosy,

Thank you for the detailed description! I tested both our demo and your test page again. I opened the tabs the same way you did, had them open for the same time (30 seconds), yet the videos started to play without any issues.

I was using this version of Chrome – Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.84 Safari/537.36 (Chrome 63 on Windows 7). Could you please check your user agent with this tool and let me know the result?

Also, can you test our demo the same way you tested your test video?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

I used your tool and here are the results:
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.84 Safari/537.36 > Chrome 63 on Windows 10

And I tried it on your demo and it’s fine there. :O

Is it possible it’s the ads? :( Can you check on our other pages as well? our site is tassali.tv

    Hi Rosy,

I tried a couple of random links from the top menu on your website and all behaved correctly – the playback started even after 30 seconds of having the tab open without switching to it. I also tested it in Chrome 63 on Windows 10 and got the same results.

Could you please test it in your browser’s Incognito window? It is possible, that the behaviour that you recorded is specific only for your browser.

    Thanks,
    Eduard
