Update dev guide

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Update dev guide

    Hello,

    you should update your developer guide: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/api-programming

    In the guide you use the handle “flowplyer” but if you check your source file it is “flowplayer”.

    The guide seems to be older too. If there are new methods and events, it would be great if you could find them here. Or is there another guide?

    Thanks

    Hi Bruno,

    Thanks for letting us know!

    We’ll check the developer guide with our senior programmer Martin to see if there’s anything else that we can fix or add. Do you have any tips?

    I’ll keep you posted about the changes.

    Thanks for being part of the Foliovision,

    Juraj

    Hello Bruno,

    thank you for pointing out the mistake, it has been fixed.

    We keep the guide up to date, although it doesn’t cover the FV Player Database yet.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Thanks Martin.

    Another question: I try to change the cuepoints on the fly but it seems that it not work. I use this:

    this.api = flowplayer( ‘div.flowplayer’ );

    this.api.setCuepoints( [180,235] );

    And if I console.log the result inside the script it seems that the cuepoints changed, but if I

    console.log( flowplayer( ‘div.flowplayer’ ).cuepoints );

    in the browser console just the initial cuepoints are displayed. How it is possible to change the cuepoints on the fly if another video in the playlists starts with

    this.api.play( 5 );

    ??

    Another thing: If I try

    this.api.seek( 0 );

    after the video starts, this do not work. I also tried

    localStorage.removeItem( ‘video_positions’ );

    but it is not possible to start the video inside the script.

    Thanks

    Hello Bruno,

    when the video loads the cuepoints set with setCuepoints() are removed. So you need to add them on the “ready” event – look for “api.bind” in our guide: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/api-programming

    I’m not sure why flowplayer(‘.flowplayer’).seek(0) wouldn’t work for you. Are you having the same issue when you try it on a simple MP4 file?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

    am I right that you need to add new cuepoints (on ready) in an array too?

    setCuepoints( [20,45] );

    You work with minfied JavaScript files, so you can’t study the files very well. So it would be very helpful if you explain the Developer API better. I’m sure there are many additional useful functions (attachment), which are not shown anywhere.

    Thanks

    And it is very difficult to find out in which form the parameters have to be passed.

    Hello Bruno,

    I added more about how the cuepoints API is used into our documentation now: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/api-programming#cuepoints

    We supply the min.js file for our player only as that’s what we get from Flowplayer and we have to use that in order to be able to use their licensing scheme. But what works for Flowplayer 7 also works for FV Player 7, so you can check the core Flowplayer core there.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Thanks Martin. This was a useful hint. I wasn’t aware of Flowplayer 7 Engine and API and that you can study it to work more advanced with your FV Player.

    Do you have an overview when there is more information about the FV Player Database? I’d like to know what you can do with it. I’m drilling the player right now to see what you can do with it. Maybe even more works than you think today ;-)
