Player does not work with Automatic Video Post plugin

[Solved]

  • Norman R. 9 months, 1 week ago

We have implemented the player on our site (blackpressusa.com) and added the VAST player addon. We’ve also set the player to override the default WordPress video player. However, the player only defaults on videos that are either added directly through the Flowplayer interface or videos that are added through the share link. Our existing library of videos added via embed code are still calling up the WordPress video player and not showing ads. Also, we utilize a plugin (AUTOMATIC YOUTUBE VIDEO POSTS PLUGIN FOR WORDPRESS) to pull in video similar to an RSS feed. These videos are also failing to utilize the FV player. Is there something that can be added to the WordPress code to force use of the FV Player?

    Hello Norman,

Please let us know how are these videos actually inserted to your posts.

A screenshot of the post editing interface showing the place where the video is inserted would be great too.

    Thanks,
    Martin

My initial concern centered on the fact that the player did not manage all videos on our site (blackpressusa.com). Youtube videos that were added directly by us in posts were not an issue at the time. However, videos that were added via the feed-based plugin, Automatic Video Posts (https://shop.ternstyle.us/documentation/automatic-youtube-video-posts-plugin-for-wordpress), defaulted to the WordPress player. I should note that this was not an issue before now. While it has been some time since we previously implemented the plugin, it functioned as expected during that implementation and managed all video plays.

It appears that since my initial support request, all videos are defaulting to the WordPress player. I have attached screen captures of the frontend and backend of a video post made by Automatic Video Posts. For other posts, we simply add either the YouTube embed code or the share link to load the video.

Please advise if there is code that we can add to the theme’s function.php (or other file) that will force the theme to allow the plugin to manage all video plays.

    Thanks,
    Norman

    Hello Norman,

It really depends on the Automatic Video Post plugin.

I see it has the video_url() function: https://shop.ternstyle.us/documentation/automatic-youtube-video-posts-plugin-for-wordpress/theme-functions -> The Video URL Function

You should be able to use it like this in your theme:

    echo do_shortcode( "[fvplayer src='" . $video->video_url() . "']" );

    Thanks,
    Martin

Where should the code be placed?

    Martin 7 months ago

    Hello Norman,

Please check if your theme is using PHP code or if it’s the new block theme.

You may need to contact Automatic Video Post plugin developers to see how they insert the videos with your theme.

We are also happy to take care of this for you if you order our Make Your Theme work with Video service. But before we do that please provide a link to a sample page where we can see a video inserted with Automatic Video Post plugin.

    Thanks,
    Martin

See screenshots below which include the post interface, a post view and the plugin video post list. Also sent an additional reply via email.

    Hi Norman,

    Thanks for your detailed notes.

I’m afraid this is an Automatic Video Post issue (how they insert their videos). FV Player is compatible with the built-in WordPress video player.

If you’d like us to work on this issue, it would be custom development.

Thanks for being part of Foliovision!

Making the web work for you, Alec
