How to Set Default Quality For Video Playback – Help

[Solved]

  • Deewin 4 years, 10 months ago

    Hello,

I have realized that there’s a lag before playback for a video begins. I’m using HLS streams and I did notice that the player takes time to load different video quality files before playback begins.

Is there a way to reduce the lag? Or should I upgrade to PRO to set the default playback quality so as to reduce the lag?

    Regards

    Hello Deewin,

What hosting and CDN are you using for your HLS streams?

the CDN should pick best video quality automatically based on your connection.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hello Juraj,

Thanks for your response. I have found the problem. It’s not in the video player but on Brave Browser when all trackers are blocked from the website.

The browser takes some time to buffer the data content on the video before playing. Otherwise, response time is instant when the Brave Browser shields are disabled.

The issue isn’t present in any other browser using third-party adblockers and trackers.

    Regards

    Hello Deewin,

Great to hear! I’ll check if there’s any way for us to change behaviour on Brave browser but I’m worried that it’s caused by the security measurements in their buffer handling and therefore, there wouldn’t be any way for us to change it.

Thanks for sharing info with us,
    Juraj
