cloudfront streaming distribution

[Solved]

    hi,

    i have a question about Cloudfront streaming distribution. I did setup everything as in the tutorial, in wordpress i use the cname link (present in cloudfront and setup in the web server) such as: cname/video.mp4.

    The videos work and the signed urls as well, the problem i have is that the videos playback is not always smooth, sometimes it buffers a lot. Another problem is that in the aws console in cloudfront, it shows me no cloudfront usage at all nor any logs. It’s like it’s not using cloudfront even though i did setup everything possible there.

    Do you have any idea what the issue could be?

    Thanks

    Hello Miguel,

    did you installed your CloudFront just now? Perhaps it takes a while until the stats are available as it uses “day” as a basic unit. On our account can see these stats in https://console.aws.amazon.com -> CloudFront -> Usage.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    hi, actually i did this 3 months ago, i never got any stats, cloudfront in the monthly bills appears as 0, there’s no usage for it either, it’s as if it’s not used at all.

    Hello Miguel,

    could you please provide some of your post URLs (we don’t have to publish it if you choose not to), so that we can have a look?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    hi, yes the urls are all like this: http://vod.example.tv/8142_500K.mp4
    In cloudfront i used a cname: vod.example.tv

    All media works but it seems it’s not using the cloudfront distribution

    in the cname i had it pointed to the bucket, i changed that now to the cloudfront domain, now i get usage and logs but no videos work anymore.

    I did everything to setup cloudfront but never got it to work.

    It always says video file not found. If i put the link in the browser (cname/file.mp4) i get this:

    This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
    <Error>
    MissingKey
    <Message>Missing Key-Pair-Id query parameter</Message>
    </Error>

    that seems correct, why no videos work anymore, i put all credentials, bucket, rmtp, cloudfront, i can’t figure out what is wrong, i never managed to get cloudfront to work, only s3 was working but never the distribution.

    hi again, thanks for the support, i was able to make it work in the end. I had to change the links to https//cloudfrontdomain/file, now all works and i can see a huge difference.

    Thanks

    Hello Miguel,

    I’m glad that we could be of assistance and that it finally works for you!

    I think this is documented in https://foliovision.com/player/serving-private-cloudfront -> Summary – Practical example -> 4. The mapped domain has to be used it the video URL, I think that makes sense.

    Please let us know if you see any way of simplifying this.

    Please also double check that you are not using Settings -> FV WordPress Flowplayer -> “Amazon S3 Protected Content” for this.

    Thanks,
    Martin
