Clickable player

[Solved]

    Howdy,

What i’m wanting to do is to have the ability to display a video on my webpress (version 4.4.2) page, then if the user would like to watch the video in a larger size, provide them with the ability to click on the video and bring it to the forefront and allow them to be able to resize. I’m wanting to do this without them having to select full screen since they may want/need to display multiple videos at once. Currently, i’m running the 6.0.4.12 version of the player and when i click on the video, all that it allows me to do is to start and stop the video.

Does this capability exist or do I need to upgrade to a new version?

    Thank you in advanced!

    Hello Dan,

I guess I see what you mean, but I’m not sure how useful this feature is. What exact use case do you have in mind?

Normally we only allow a playback of a single video at a time, so that would be the first thing to change.

We do have the lightbox feature, so we would have to change that to allow multiple lightbox popups to be opened at the same time and also allow their resizing.

Slightly more advanced users can mimic what you want by opening multiple browser windows.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hi Martin, I see Dan didn’t responsed but I can imagine his needs as we also do.

We have a popular local news site owned by a local TV station (public/only volunteers).

I would like to show a stream (HLS) of our TV station in a widget on our Frontpage (WP). But as soon someone starts the stream and continues browsing/clicking for reading the news articles, the stream stops ofcourse.
So what would be convenient is to click on a image/still in a widget and then a new browser window starts (without any controls, bars, whatever …) and the video stream window that starts playing can be adjusted to the desired width/height so visitors can view the stream while browsing the website.

It would be really great if you have a solution for this.

    Thanks,
    Marcel.

    Hi Marcel,

What you are asking for is fairly easily possible but it’s better suited to custom programming for your site than as a standard feature. Feel free to engage us do it but in principle any experienced WordPress developer should be able to add an open in a new chromeless window function to your site using existing FV Player technology.

Martin might have some tech tips on how to best do this.

    Thanks.

    Hello Marcel,

to make it simple you can just create a hidden page with just the [fvplayer ...] shortcode in it which would show up without any header or sidebar and then create a new window with that page in it once the image in your widget is clicked.

    Thanks,
    Martin
