Hi Martin,
I’m a bit confused- it doesn’t seem like you’re understanding my messages.
I think your colleague Alec in his message pretty much nailed it. All I want is to have an image that links to a video, but instead of opening the MP4 file directly, I want it to show up in a lightbox with your plugin. Right now, your plugin does some extra styling to the image (thumbnail) like add a play button, among other things.
All I want, and I think it’s pretty simple, is to have a non altered image, that when you click it, it brings up a video in a lightbox.
Please refer to Alec’s message because he seemed to be in tune with what I was asking for:
“Hi Martin,
Let’s make clicking the video thumbnail open up the lightbox please with just a class on it (like class=”video-lightbox”).”
Does that make sense?
And to refer back to your examples of what the plugin should produce- it’s still not what I’m looking for. All I want is a simple image to link out to a lightbox. Right now, your plugin does not produce that cleanly (not even in the samples you had pasted in).
Hey Martin,
That’s my point, I can’t get just an image to link up to a lightbox. Your colleague Alec had suggested exactly what I was referring to “Let’s make clicking the video thumbnail open up the lightbox please with just a class on it (like class=”video-lightbox”).”
My thought is I want it to look like the top image (not the second image that the plugin produces) and when you click the top image, it opens the video in the lightbox.
Does that make sense?
Hey Martin,
Here’s the look I want to go for:

The top image/button is what I want it to look like. Once you click it, the popup/lightbox appears.
The image below it is what your plugin produces- looks more like a video thumbnail/window which doesn’t fit in with the overall design and functionality I wanted. What Alec had previously suggested is exactly what I’m looking for and need.
Alec & Martin,
That would be more then enough! Just to confirm, it would look like the following?
<a href="video.mp4" class="video-lightbox"><img src="image.png"></a>
Martin,
That’s the look I’m going for, just having a simple image that you click (not a thumbnail) and it opens up the lightbox. Very simple, nothing fancy.
Is this in the works? Do you have an ETA? I need to get this implemented this week so if your solution won’t be available, I will have to look elsewhere (which wouldn’t be ideal because I just purchased a license for your product for $75.
Thanks Martin, but that doesn’t really produce the look I’m going for. I’m really perplexed as to why the plugin can’t wrap an image with a lightbox link- seems just as simple as a text link.
