Understood. As an FYI, we are not using the Gutenberg editor on these posts. We have Classic Editor installed. We are putting the shortcode into the traditional text area of WordPress.

I deactivated and reinstalled FV Player on our dev site. To test, I created a new video with a splash image. When I pasted the shortcode into a new post, the splash image was added as the featured image, AND that image was uploaded to the media library. I was under the impression that reinstalling would fix the image being uploaded to the media library issue. Can you please advise? And also, has Alec determined if this setting can somehow be turned off?

These are news posts, and we usually don’t use a featured image on these posts. We do insert images into the text, but we usually don’t use the featured image on these posts. This really should not be automatic – it assumes everyone uses the featured image, and I’m sure we’re not the only ones who don’t.
I am happy to deactivate and reinstall to fix the media library issue, but will that also fix the issue of the video automatically placing a featured image on the post? Can I add some code that will negate that setting?

CatherineI have what sounds like a similar issue, but I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same. I am having an issue with FV Player that I’ve never seen before.
I have a WordPress post with an FV Player video shortcode embedded above the text. My video has the video file, a splash image file, and subtitles file, all hosted in a storage directory CDN with my host.
This has never happened before (and we make these videos with FV Player all the time), but when I save the post draft, a featured image is generated from the splash image. I can literally see a new upload in the media library each time I save. We do not want a featured image on the page.
Is this some setting in FV Player that may have been set on an update? How can I turn this off?
