Low audio quality on speed adjusted videos.

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Low audio quality on speed adjusted videos.

  • Mitchell G. 3 years, 11 months ago

    Hi Guys,

I have an harmonica instruction website. My members play along to musical examples I have created. It’s great to have the slow down and speed up function that we have on videos these days.

However, I find a lot of wow and flutter (quality loss) in the playback from these videos when they are speed adjusted. It’s especially noticeable on videos that are slowed down.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to improve this?

Either in the initial video conversion, or somewhere in the chain of delivery and hosting?

To my ears Youtube is slightly better than my site, and chrome seems to be slightly better than firefox.

Thought I’d ask here, before i went down any further rabbit holes.

It would be amazing to have the quality stay consistent.

    :)

    Hello Mitchell,

    thank you for your question!

I’ve tested out your homepage video on harmonicatime.com and the same video on YouTube. I can hear the difference you mean. I will forward your request to our development team and see what can be done about it or what can we suggest you do.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hello Mitchell,

I didn’t notice any difference of quality between YouTube and your website. YouTube only offers a 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 slow down, are you sure you tested your website with these same speeds?

Maria told me she could hear the issue and she was testing on Windows. I was testing on macOS with Chrome. Please let us know what computer did you use in your test and which speeds cause the biggest issue.

    Thanks,
    Martin
