hlsjs-lite: unsupported video message

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › hlsjs-lite: unsupported video message

  • Tonia 2 years, 10 months ago

    Dear support,
all of the sudden none of my encoded videos is working anymore. The message in the viewer is “hlsjs-lite: unsupported video”. The thumbnail is shown.
In admin there appears a message:

FV Player Pro: Stream Loader encountered errors while serving HLS streams: Domain has error rate of 100%
Message: The given URL is invalid. First: 2023-03-30 11:13:03 Last: 2023-03-30 11:13:03 Count: 1

where the URL is missing. I’m not aware of any changes to the website configuration.
    Kind regards,
    Tonia

    Hello Tonia,

as you wrote in your email:

I found the cause. It was the upgrade to WordPress 6.2. After downgrading 2 sites, the video replay functions again.

We found WordPress 6.2 doesn’t set the HTTP Referrer header anymore for the WP HTTP calls.

FV Player Pro 7.5.33 is out and it will fix the issue.

Please click wp-admin -> FV Player -> Settings -> and down at the bottom find “Stream Loader” -> “Clear cache” if the issue persists. But it should clear automatically.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

I think this might need another look. I have updated to the latest version 7.5.33 and the (hlsjs-lite: unsupported video message) error is still occurring on multiple sites.

I’ve tried disabling all other plugins etc and run tests on two sites, with the same result.

When downgrading to wordpress 6.1 the errors are resolved.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mg

    Hello Tonia and Mitchell,

Thank you for pointing out ongoing issues.

We’ve found that WordPress 6.2 utilizes a new way of sanitizing MySQL queries, which temporarily broke encrypted HLS playback.

FV Player Pro 7.5.34 is out and it will fix the issue. Please, update the plugin and let us know if fixed the issue for you.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hello Tonia and Mitchell,

we added the encrypted HLS test into our automated test suite to make sure this never happens again if future WordPress versions changes something again. It was truly one of the trouble-free parts for a long time.

    Thanks,
    Martin
