Implementing Amazon S3 so URL expires. Is RTMP Cloudfront just as secure?

I am setting up my video to stream from Amazon S3 on a restricted web page to members. I need URLs to expire so the video cannot be accessed or shared. I followed your guide to create IAM and get access keys. I get the video playing.
I would now like to use RTMP Cloudfront to stream the mp4 video – is RTMP just as secure? Or there issues I should know? Thanks.

Hello Emptymind,

we updated our Amazon S3 guide with the RTMP instructions: http://foliovision.com/wordpress/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/secure-amazon-s3-guide#rtmp

Unfortunately the video files need “Everbody” to have Open/View permissions (see step 7. in the “Setting up CloudFront distribution – RTMP” section of the document).

RTMP works over the CloudFront distribution which is different from Amazon S3. It requires a different set of access keys. Including this feature is on our list.

So I should hold off implementing Cloudfront until it is secure? – S3 is not so bad for hosting but at least it is secure.
I just bought the license – great player!

Hello Emptymind,

if you want to protect your videos from hotlinking, the you will have to wait until we add download protections for Cloudfront.
