CloudFront RTMP

We have issues when trying to play video across different browsers. Windows Explorer and Firefox does not work. Firefox Mac does not work. It plays on mobile devices and when we are logged in

Example of code used can be this one:

    [fvplayer src='https://....cloudfront.net/video/DEMO_Live_Channel.mp4' rtmp="rtmp://.....cloudfront.net/cfx/st" rtmp_path="DEMO_Live_Channel.mp4" width=640 height=360 mobile='https://....cloudfront.net/video/DEMO_Live_Channel.mp4' splash='https://......cloudfront.net/video_images/vieira_live2_fuze_f_640.png']

    Hi Sergio,

I’m sorry for your issues. Martin will look at your page tomorrow and let you know what the issue is.

Thanks for being part of Foliovision!

The video is working fine using that code on Macs and mobiles but it does not work on Windows 8 more than 1 browser.

Besides having a solution for all platforms using solely mp4 instead of different formats it is necessary to have an understanding of which code to use when selling private content

The example above works on cloudfront rtmp. Need to know the diferrences to signed in urls since those distributions on aws are private. If you sell a course that has to be available for several months how do you do? Download of content not allowed

    Thank you

    Hi Sergio,

My first thought is that I wouldn’t mix Cloudfront in with Amazon S3 and restricted content. Amazon S3 and Cloudfront are largely redundant in any case.

We’ll need a WordPress admin login to take this further. Please send it to support@foliovision.com.

    Thanks!

    Hello Sergio,

    1. You entered bad RTMP path for the video. The path is actually video/DEMO_Live_Channel.mp4 and not just DEMO_Live_Channel.mp4. I tried using that on our test site and the video plays using RTMP.

Please try that and let us know if you are still having issues.

Our plugin has a video checker, however it doesn’t work for RTMP streaming protocol yet. We will definitely explore possibility of adding it. It’s a Adobe (Macromedia) proprietary protocol, so it might not be that easy.

You mentioned that the video didn’t played for you in various browsers – that’s becaue these browsers have Flash capability, so they choose the RTMP stream. Mobile has no Flash support, so it used the MP4 file directly. So that should be fine too.

Also, there is no need to specify the mobile video it it’s the same as the normal video. It should be low bandwidth version of the video.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    1) I got confused because I thought admin status would check RTMP

    2) Thank you, it was missing the folder /video/ on the path

    3) It is true that adding mobile it is redundant in this case

    4) We do not want to use S3 but rather Cloudfront with streaming

    5) The above code is for a public video on a website. If this was a protected video for membership site where one has to login preventing download what would be the code to use

    Hi Sergio,

Sorry about that I was mixing up Cloudflare and Cloudfront. Thanks for the clarification (I’d just been locked out of a website by IP address by Cloudflare the day before).

Martin will get back to you tomorrow with answers to the other questions.

    Hello Sergio,

    1. we are checking how to test RTMP streams. I only found a command line utility for this so far.

    2. in your above shortcode, you added the /video into bad path, to the one with http, but I guess you got it right in your post.

    5. you just have to setup the Amazon Access keys. However this currently doesn’t work with RTMP. We are working on adding that function right now.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Sergio,

to explain more about the CloudFront and RTMP protected URLs –

these seem to use different access keys than S3, so it take us bit longer to get this done.

    Thanks,
    Martin
