Show same video popup via two links

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Show same video popup via two links

  • Gerald 6 years, 6 months ago

    Dear support team,

    is it possible to open the same video via two links in a popup?
    I have a custom WP page template with a card element for each video.
    A card has
    1. an image with a link to a video and
    2. a title with a link to the same video.

    Now the problem is, that the same video-link shows up as two videos in the popup. So if there are for example 2 cards, the popup shows 4 videos (2 times the same).

    Is there a solution to this?

    Thank you,
    Robert

    Hello Gerald,

    I think I see what you are trying to do. The FV Player lightbox is either an image or a text link which you can click to open the video in lightbox, but there is no option for custom HTML.

    But you can place the player in a hidden div element with id attribute and then load that up using a simple link with a class: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/using-lightbox#advanced

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

    thanks for the advise, but unfortunately this does not work. I tried using it like this:
    ” class=”colorbox”><?php the_title(); ?>
    and like this:
    <?php echo apply_filters( ‘the_content’, ‘‘. get_the_title() .’‘ ); ?>
    but both ways don’t work. There is no lightbox.

    <div id=”video-<?php the_ID(); ?>”><?php echo do_shortcode(‘ [fvplayer src="'. $video_URL .'" caption="'. get_the_title() .'"]‘ ); ?></div>

    Do you have any idea?

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hello Gerald,

    you can put code in the <pre> tags.

    Please check if fv-wordpress-flowplayer/js/fancybox.js script is being loaded. If not enable Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Sitewide FV Player Defaults -> Use video lightbox for images as well.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

    enabling the sitewide lightbox setting did the trick, thank you. I somehow missed this option.
    But is there a way to autostart the video when opened in the lightbox? Right now the user has to click the play button.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hello Gerald,

    FV Player lightbox works that way normally, but since you are using it to show a custom element, it doesn’t autoplay as you noticed.

    If you know enough about JavaScript you could create a script which listens to the click event on your links and then triggers that same event on the player in your custom div. At this point I don’t see how we could support your case without making everything a bit too complex.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

    thank you for your help so far. I’m already working on a JS script for that.
    But to trigger the video play-event by JS, I need it’s ID.
    Is there a way to obtain the ID by php somehow? Like the WordPress function the_ID(); but for the video.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    OK I just noticed, that the wpfp_ID is not always the same. It changes on every page load. So nevermind the question above.

    Hello Gerald,

    you can load the FV Player in your div like this:

    jQuery('#your-div-id .flowplayer').data('flowplayer').load();

    But it has to be triggered by the click event directly, not in any callback, otherwise it won’t work on mobile.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    That’s it, now it’s working and I can move on from that.
    Thank you very much.
