RTMP with no path and Cross-Origin issue with HLS

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › RTMP with no path and Cross-Origin issue with HLS

  • Marco 6 years, 7 months ago

    Hi.

I have a problem which is driving me crazy: I have a rtmp stream which is just rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx/live/

There is no file name and I’m not able to get it work. I’ve got this stream from a website where they use the same plugin (an oldier version) and it works perfectly. In that site, clicking on ‘Embed’ button I’ve got the plain url to a file called stream.m3u8, but entering this url in Video field generates a Cross-origin error: notice that both my website and the url are not secured, both are in http so I don’t understand the Cross-Origin error come from…

    Can you help?

    Hello Marco,

I’m not sure about the RTMP issue. Are you sure you have the full information about the stream URL? Did you figure out that path by looking at the HTML code? There should be the source path too. What you posted looks like a RTMP server URL only.

The cross origin error is about loading resources from one site on some other website. It’s not just about http:// v https://.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hi Martin, thank you for your response.
No, I’m not sure to have all infos and now I’m almost sure this is not related with FV Player. After a lot of googling, I have got the name of the streamed file which is not mp4 but m3u8. If I put the path to this file in video field and I disable HLS.js, I can see the video streaming correclty in desktop but not in smartphone. If I enable HLS.js I get Cross-Origin issue and the video doesn’t show up nor in desktop nor in smartphone. And whatever I do to add Allow-Cross-Origin headers, it just doesn’t work.
I have looked at Network panel in DevTools and I saw the original website (I’m preparing a different design to show to the client) uses a request like http://xx.xxx.xx.xxx:8000/; but if I use this I get as response that Winamp is required. Really confusing to me…

    Hello Marco,

if you can use a HLS stream instead of RTMP, that would be perfect.

But it’s strange that it doesn’t play on mobile. The CORS issue shouldn’t be impossible to figure out.

The Winamp issue is strange. Did you ever install that to your PC?

    Thanks,
    Martin
