Flussonic HLS encryption

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Flussonic HLS encryption

I have this m3u8 url live stream hls (https://live.obslivestream.com/autenticatvmux/index.m3u8), and I want nobody to see it. I bought the player and did all the steps that this guide says (https://foliovision.com/player/video-security/video-protection-methods/signed-urls-hls-protection), but it doesn’t work for me. Can you help me?

When I go to explore the source code of the page, it keeps appearing.

    Hello Abel,

We apologize for the late reply.

While FV Player Pro does offer some additional security, most of the protection still depends on where you choose to host your stream. It being an HLS stream is itself already a big step towards protection. However, the signed URL feature does not work for every provider.

We would like to look into the possibilities of supporting your hosting source ( https://obslivestream.com/ ) however, this can prove to be hard since it seems they do not provide any API or programmer-centric documentation at all. Do you, as a customer have access to API or any documentation that may help us see how the service works and if we can support it?

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hello Abel,

I looked at https://flussonic.com/flussonic-media-server/#features and I see Flussonic supports the AES-128 encryption which would be the right way of preventing easy video downloading.

The detailed guide about how that works can be found here: https://flussonic.com/doc/content-protection-with-drm/a-simple-key-server/

This could work with FV Player as well – the decryption key would be better protected. However does Flussonic support fixed decryption key for a stream or does it always have to rotate? I found this in their guide:

“Flussonic will rotate keys once per 10 minutes.”

Are you only running live streams with Flussonic, or even VOD? Does it run on your own server?

    Thanks,
    Martin
