Video only loads after mouse moved

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Bug Reports › Video only loads after mouse moved

  • Martin 3 years, 8 months ago

    Hi, there and love the plugin – so feature-rich.

    I have set up a VERY basic testing site at http://martinj29.sg-host.com/.

    So, simply clicking the link will load the page, but will NOT the video (or splash image, when used) UNTIL I move the mouse ie. a secondary gesture.

    Why is this? Just that If a visitor were to simply enter the domain in a browser and nothing more they would never see the video 9or play button) until something else happened, eg. mouse movement.

    I assume I must have a setting wrong?

    Thanks

    I am using Elementor and checked on a separate Gutenburg Block page – (redacted)/test-fv-player/ – and the same issue.

    Hello Martin,

    thank you for reaching out to us!

    Please, check if you have “Optimize FV Flowplayer JS loading” enabled in Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Integrations/Compatibility. If you do, then disable it.

    This setting reduces the size of unused scripts. One of the effects is that FV Player will not load unless the user interacts with the site (scroll, click, etc.). You can read more about it here: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/optimize-javascript-loading

    However, even with the setting disabled, you do not need to worry that FV Player will slow your website down much. The setting ensures the least possible loading sizes, but the player isn’t too heavy without it on either.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi, there

    That’s it sorted. Thank you.

    Just a couple of other question, if I may.

    1.Styling Email Pop-Ups.
    I have one set up to load at the end of the video but where can I change colours and positioning etc
    2.Delay.
    The pop-up appears not to load immediately – seems a say 3-5 sec delay. Is there a setting where I can adjust this?

    Thank you.

    Hello Martin,

    sorry about the delay.

    1) We added some tips on how to use CSS to adjust the email popup colors: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/css-tips-and-fixes#popup-email-colors

    2) I’m not sure what could cause the delay, could you please link to a test page with the video with popup?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi good people,
    We are using custom CSS to show FVplayer with rounded corners:

    .flowplayer,
    .flowplayer .fp-player .fp-splash,
    .flowplayer video,
    .flowplayer iframe.fp-engine,
    .flowplayer .fp-ui {
        border-radius: 0.5em !important;
    }
    .flowplayer .fp-header, .flowplayer .fp-message {
        border-radius: 0.5em 0.5em 0 0;
    }
    .flowplayer .fp-controls {
        border-radius: 0 0 0.5em 0.5em;
    }

    We also have enabled:
    Optimize FV Flowplayer JS loading

    When a page with a Video player loads, only the splash image is displayed, as long as the user does not interact with the page.
    My issue is, that the custom CSS for rounded corners does not apply to the Splash image, when shown only by itself. Only once the user interacts does the player load and then the Splash becomes part of the player and then the rounded corners do show on splash and player together.

    Any advise of how to get the splash image by itself also show rounded corners?
    Thanks! Mike

    Hello Michael,

    I see the rule was missing the selector .flowplayer .fp-splash. Please check the link again to get the updated rule: https://foliovision.com/player/faq-intro/css-tips-and-fixes#rounded-borders

    Thanks,
    Martin
