License key

For each domain you need a license key. This removes FV Player branding from both JavaScript and Flash components and allows you to use your own logo. To use a commercial version under mydomain.com you need a 1 domain license. It will validate also on all subdomains thereof, such as www.mydomain.com or my.media.mydomain.com. An additional domain such as otherdomain.com requires another key.

FV Player licenses also validate against unofficial top-level domains. However, FV Player licenses only validate against http:// and https:// addresses, local deployment via the file:// protocol is not compliant with the licensing scheme.

The Commercial player can be embedded to an unlimited amount of foreign domains with your branding in it.

The license key is tied to the domain name shown in the browser’s location bar – in the case of iframes when the frame is viewed in its own window. A valid key/domain combination removes the FV Player branding and you can display your own. The license key validation happens completely inside the player, and it does not connect to our servers at any time.

License keys are generated manually after the purchase on your account page. You supply the domain names where you plan to use FV Player.

License management

FV Player licenses are managed at your Foliovision account. There you can enter the domain names of your choice to generate license keys and download your commercial releases.

Note: A generated key cannot be changed. A request to change the domain of your license in fact leads to the generation of a new license and therefore incurs a fee of $25 via the support channel. If you need to do work with a licensed version on a development server first, use a (.htaccess protected) subdomain of the destination domain, or develop on localhost – free license keys for the localhost and 127.0.0.1 are included in the Commercial distribution. Otherwise we must charge for domain changes from development servers to production.

Also please note that you cannot split out licenses to other accounts. If you purchase a license for a client of yours and you plan to grant the client control over his license later on, you need to create a separate account for this license.

Account access

We care about the privacy and safety of your personal data and licenses. If you have forgotten your password you can retrieve it in a safe way from here. In case the email address to which your Foliovision account is bound has become invalid as well, we must ask you to provide us with a proof of purchase – PayPal transaction or receipt ID – before we can grant you access to your account again.

Note: In your own interest we cannot divulge personal account information on email request. Sender addresses may be forged, and complying with such a request would result in a breach of confidentiality.

If you purchase FV Player licenses as employee of a company we advise you to connect your FV Player account to a long-lived non-personal email address like licensing@example.com or fvflowplayer@example.com.
