They have control over the plugin, so they should be able to handle your request.</p> <p>It's more difficult to ask developers to remove the category URL prefix in core Wordpress, since they control its future development and it's used by a lot of users, so it's harder to make sure all the parts work together. That's why there is a plugin for removing the category URL prefix - which is optional.
