Yes please Peter. I’m not having much success with other testimonial plugins. I’m hoping yours will do the job I need it for.

I got the plug in installed fine and was able to create and have post a testimonial.

    However, when I try to insert an image I get this error;

    Hi Kaye

could you please go to the Options, and check if you have set the path where the uploaded images should be stored?
Just write in the directory, for example /testimonials then click Save.
Now you can go back to your testimonial and the image uploading should work.

    Thanks for reporting this problem,

    Hello,
I’m using your FVeditor on one website, and FV testimonials seems also very interesting since it has images support. But I’ve a question:
Does it is possible to show *only one and random* testimonial?

    Hi Ivan,

at the moment you can display one testimonial, but the random feature is not included. We will consider adding this in the next release.

Just curious, will FV Testimonials 0.9.4 Basic be/is compatible with WordPress 3.1 (WP 3.1 RC 2 as of this posting)?

I know some plugin authors already have their plugins compatible with 3.1 just wandering about FV Testimonials 0.9.4 Basic.

Thanks, and thanks for a great plugin.

    Hi Zdenka.

I have done the install, added a testimonial, and added the shortcode [testimonials:all] to the text of the page where I want them to display, but they are not displaying.

I should be able to do this with the basic version, correct? I’m not editing the template, just calling the testimonials from the text area using the shortcode.

    Any thoughts?

You can take a look at my pages on the above link, under Client Testimonials.

    Hi Sharon,

did you approved the testimonial you’ve added? All testimonials are unapproved right after adding, so in the list of testimonials you should click the link ‘Approve’ next to the testimonial name. Approved testimonials have darker gray background, while unapproved have border around them. Only approved testimonials are displayed.
    Hope this helps,
    Zdenka

Oh Zdenka! I feel stupid now! No, I had missed the “status” section where I had to approve the comment! It’s working perfectly now, and FV Testimonials has one of the nicest layouts I’ve seen.

Thank you so much for correcting my stupidity!

Anyway, thanks again, it’s working beautifully!

Greetings. I researched your site before installing the Testimonials plugin to ensure it was compatible with WordPress 3.1. I see the post by Roy and Zdenka claiming that it is. However, when I attempt to install and activate, I got the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/29/3996029/html/devroot_sohgave/wp-content/plugins/fv-testimonials/model/main-class.php on line 18

So the question remains…do you have an idea when the plugin will be compatible with version 3.1? Thanks… this plugin looks promising… assuming I can get it to work with 3.1.

    Hi Shawn,

The error you’re getting is probably because your server is still running some old version of PHP. You’ll need at least PHP 5 here.

    Thanks for asking,

Shawn, here is a site that is running this plugin with 3.1 (not sure about 3.1.1 that came out today).

Thanks for the feedback Zdenka/Roy. Unfortunately I’m required to stay on PHP4 :( so that means I can’t use this particular plugin which is a shame. Nice work though and glad to know where the problem lies. I’ll keep my eye on this plugin for future endeavors. Keep up the good work and again, thanks for the feedback.

    p.s. I like Croftvs.com. Well done.

I added to my page [Testimonials: all] and that worked great to display them.
However, how do I give visitors to the site the ability to add a testimonial. I don’t see a shortcode or anything to do that.

    Hi Valerie,

you’re right, there is no option for adding testimonials directly from visitors.
Testimonials section should be nice, well kept with good formatting. Therefore we think it is better if you enter testimonials yourself. If you can use some form for collecting testimonials, why not use comments?

    Hi Valerie,

We often think about adding an add your own testimonial form (with picture).

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Zdenka, let’s try to add this to at least the pro version sometime soon. We can use the built-in WordPress text parsing for comments and just need an image uploader. Of course the image uploader is a security issue but I think we have one now which is safe (i.e. disallows anything other than images and won’t allow execution of the files until they are vetted: it should also not let the visitor know where the files are going – when approved the image should be moved to a different directory).

Is it possible to use the FV Testimonials Pro version and add my testimonials to one of the text widgets in my sidebar? (Or any other widget…)

And if so, what is the exact text that I would add?

I have added and approved one testimonial. ID 1 Featured. Approved.

    Hi Edward,

at the moment the shortcode for testimonials doesn’t work in ordinary text widget. We’re sorry for this inconvenience and we’ll work towards improving this and making the shortcode work in normal text widgets.

The way how you can get the testimonial shortcode into the widget now is the PHP widget plugin. Once this plugin is installed, you can use the ‘PHP Code’ widget. You will need to insert following code inside:

    <?php
    echo apply_filters('the_content', '[Testimonials: your_settings]');
    ?>

You can see the normal testimonial shortcode wrapped into piece of code – use the setting of your choice instead ‘your_settings’.

    Hi Edward,

so if I understand it correctly, you can display the testimonial, but not the excerpt or the image. THis is hard to debug without actually see the problem. Could you please post the shortcode and ideally also the site where this doesn’t work?
    Thanks!

I’d be very interested in purchasing this if it had the ability for a customer to enter a testimonial themselves, which are left pending until approved/deleted.

Also a testimonial rotator, with a link to see more/full testimonials.

    Hi Vitaly,

at the moment we don’t have form for adding new testimonials by users themselves, but we’re planning to add this feature soon.

A testimonials rotator is available in PRO version, and it can be set up by adding the corresponding code into the theme template.

I have a client who has the title and company name in addition to the name of the person, and I’d like to attach CSS styles to them individually, so I could italicize the company name for instance. Are there additional fields for this in the pro version?

Michelle Dodd at July 29th, 2011 around 1:43 pm
Jump to the top of this page
  41. 41

    Hi Michelle,

You don’t really need individual fields. You can add a class to title, the company and the name.

We’re considering adding additional fields but at the same time, we’re trying to keep FV Testimonials easy to use straight out of the box.

What the pro will do for you is give you multiple images and give you categories so you can show testimonials for individual services and products.

Making the web work for you, Alec
