WP sidebar with Testimonials

Management of Foliopress Testimonials can be found in WP administration->Tools->Testimonials. Whole management consits of 5 pages (3 for basic version) accessible by small submenu located on top.

Adding new Testimonials:

Add new testimonial

Go to "Add new" submenu and fill in the name and text. You can select a category, but that's optional. Image is also optional.

Editing existing testimonials:

Edit testimonial

On the main Testimonials page, click on any name of testimonial and the edit part will apear. Featured status can be updated in bulk by checking and unchecking the checkboxes under featured headline and then SAVING it by clicking on the button on the bottom of the page called "Save Featured". Not submiting the changed featured will discard all the changes made.

Changing the order of testimonials is done in two steps. First click the Sort button. Now you can start drag and drop testimonials around (remember that featured testimonials are always first). The second step is as before SAVING the changes, by clicking on the "Save Order" button.

Adding and editing Categories:

Go to "Categories". User Interface is pretty self-explanatory. Only explanation for (-cat 17) is needed. Each category has its ID. This ID is needed when you want to embed testimonials on some page but only from specified category. More explanation is given in other part of guides.

Again, another simple UI. Very simple to use. Guide to Templates is located on other page, where the whole special syntax is explained.

General Options

• Path to post or page where all testimonials are inserted:
  
  • This should be a link to WP page from the home page
  • The link should not start with slash, since it's included from the code
  • in the example above (imagine it's on foliovision site) the full link looks like this: http://foliovision.com/testimonials
• Image root folder:
  • This should be a path from DOCUMENT_ROOT as defined by Apache
  • This field should have the slash in front
• Large, Medium, Small image width are maximal widths of submitted images for the particular image type. Thumbs are generated as well and are accessible by the embed query, but their size is hard coded to be 50.
• JPG Quality is a parameter for PHP in which Quality it should store the JPEG images. Normaly, 90 are nice pictures, but if you want excellent pictures, this may be set to 95, even 100. Be aware that this number must be from 0-100

Maintanance checks are special rutines to help repair some problems by your own. They don't destroy the testimonials, except for "Restore order" which cancels custom order, so you have to reorder the testimonials again by your self.
