SAIC bought Network Solutions for about 5 Million so they could get a government contract. They kept the unit for a few years, took it public, and the stock went from $13 to over $400. SAIC sold it to Verisign for billions . . . then, Verisign, who paid way too much, had to write down the asset by billions only to sell Network Solutions it for $20 Million . . .

And, Network Solutions has gone from 11.2 million registrations to just over 6 million in the last 7 years.

Notwithstanding the fact that their price is an absolute rip off, their market share has steadily dwindled.
